This "Rainbow Isle" Aloha Shirt was named "Best Overall Hawaiian Shirt" by GEAR PATROL Magazine and Website.
This shirt originated as a commissioned painting in the 1970s done for the Brown Sugar of Hawaii line originally as a backdrop for a trade show presentation. The artist, Emiko Kuroyanagi was the company's sample maker and indicated that she had some skill with a brush and could she paint the backdrop? She did and it was met with oohs and awes and even an offer to purchase from an art dealer. The decision was made to print it and make it into a shirt, with no idea how to engineer it. It sold anyway. Reprinted in the 90's by Kamehameha, it made the cover of a book on the Hawaiian industry. Here it is again in its finest rendition. And, just now, it was named the "Best Overall Hawaiian Shirt" by Gear Patrol Magazine and website.
